The spaces between my toes
are all about the highs and lows
of the unending ways
I can wriggle them
when I feel a rhythm building up,
and spread them open
in the sand just to dig
into the depths of exploration
to curiously feel
the mysteries of the earth.
The spaces between my toes
are nothing but a show
of affection for individuality
that are in harmony
with the rest of my body
when they are locked together
in a loving embrace,
with my hands,
in my fingers,
in a walk,
in a dance,
or in the company
of someone else’s toes
and the spaces in between.
